Winter Fishing Report 2012

Hey folks, we are all so Blessed this Winter around North West Florida with mild days and cool overnight temps, with a few freezing early morning days but for the most part a real nice mild winter at this point in January. All the hunting, camping and outdoor recreation going on this time of year will have most folks in the woods up until around the end of February but with our mild winter we should see some folks getting out of the woods early and headed to the coast for some boat ready early Spring Fish Catching Fun!!

We could very well see some late winter fish action if the water stays some what mild with the not so cold winter and water in the upper 50s and lower 60s at this time late January, so if late February we see a rise into the upper 60s we should have early fish action.

Inshore: Look for Spanish Mackeral, Trout, Redfish, Bluefish, Sheephead, Pompano, and the start of the Cobia run Middle or late March if the water Temp reaches the middle 70s by this time.

Offshore: The offshore bite late winter should be good also with beliner, Trigger, Grouper, Black Snapper available. The Red Snapper and Amberjack most likely will have some restrictions on them in the State and or Federal waters out past 9 miles, so check with the regulations on the fish Species you are after with www.myfwc.com .

I had a chance this year with my wife Clara Landry Director of the Port Saint Joe Marina as well Steve from Bay Point Marina traveling into Atlanta Ga, for six days. The Atlanta International Boat and Trade Show at The World Congress center was the show place for this Premier yearly four day event, and meeting hundreds of prospective boat owners each day as well people looking for a good outdoor experience that our area would provide for the Family vacation each year. We provided the information on our areas clean water, Fishing, Boating, Dock availability, tournaments, Charters, Boat rentals, etc.

Clara and myself said hello to many Port Saint Joe Marina guest boat owners who visited our booth as the show packed out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday January 13th, 14th and 15th with over and above the volume of people in the past few years. We also feel with our vision with the PSJ Marina and also Bay Point Marina that we will help the volume of guest prospects with our understanding of the full service friendly marina options and providing Rental Boats,Inshore Guides, offshore Fishing Charters, Scalloping and snorkle packages, Sight seeing cruises, sailing lessons, as well the family fun friendly Marina outdoor boating experience people are looking for and not just a place to dock a boat!!

Come by and see us so we can get you ready for a great time on the water this Spring and or get you in a slip at www.psjmarina.com or www.baypointmarina.net  .

God Bless
